Practicing another birth!

It was only after the first week that the students began to be willing to volunteer as the birthing mother.

Carefully wrapping and handling the newborn
Drying the newborn off, putting on a hat, and bundling it up to keep him/her warm. Preventing loss of temperature is extremely important in keeping a neonate stable, especially if he or she has been compromised in any way.   Party on last day. The class was great fun. All participants expressed the desire to go for further training.
Mother is helped to lie down with her new baby!

Leaving Gargon to go off and graze her yaks and sheep, Dechen takes with her a pile of Zonta birthing kits from Australia and fleece blankets sewn by Jane of Chino, AZ.

She will distribute these to the women she meets along her way, and will teach the women their use.
