Permanent Health Clinic

At the request of Garchen Rinpoche, the region's most respected Buddhist lama, and with the unanimous desire of the people of Gargon, our next goal is to establish a permanent health clinic at the Gargon Monastery. In order to reach this goal, we needed to raise $100,000 by the end of 2006. This is the amount required to remodel a space in the monastery, furnish the clinic with basic supplies and medicines, and expand our educational outreach programs.

Medical Training Program

Five young women from the Gargon area have been selected to complete a two-year medical training program with a Tibetan doctor in Nangchen, the closest town to Gargon. These women began training in March 2006, and when they complete their education in 2008, they will treat patients at the health clinic in Gargon and throughout the surrounding area.

  • Assess the progress of the women in our Medical Training Program
